Youth in foster care face specific challenges around education. While there are many barriers to graduation, lack of access to fundamental tools (such as laptops and MetroCards) should not be one of them.
Since 2006, NYFC has sent 8,000 Back-to-School Packages to 2,500 students in foster care, providing these scholars with the tools necessary to thrive during their educational or vocational experiences. NYFC is committed to providing these young people with the resources and support they need to become self-sufficient and successful adults. Each Back-to-School Package is valued at $1,000 and includes a laptop, a MetroCard to help students travel to and from classes, and an Amazon gift card for books.
