A Fool’s Fête 2009

On April 15, 2009, the Friends of New Yorkers For Children hosted their Sixth Annual Spring Dinner Dance-New Year’s in April: A Fool’s Fête. More than 400 guests celebrated the evening of dinner, dancing, and a record-breaking silent auction at the Mandarin Oriental, helping to raise almost $400,000 to support youth in foster care in New York City. The Halcyon Company joined as Lead Sponsor and Pink Tartan served as a Sponsor for this sold-out event.

Event Chairs Allison Aston, Marisa Brown, Joy Bryant, Lydia Fenet, Rory Hermelee, Susan Shin, Vanessa Weiner von Bismarck, and Shirin von Wulffen and Honorary  Chair Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos played a crucial role in the event’s success. Co-Chairs Victor Kubicek, Derek Anderson, and Kimberley Newport-Mimran helped to make the evening possible. Josh Hartnett, Diane Kruger, Joshua Jackson, Common, Serena Williams, Cat Deeley, John Demsey, Robert Buckley, Rachel Zoe, Walt Freese, Gail Grimmett, Emmy Rossum, Coco Rocha, Jack Huston, Leigh Lezark, and Erica and Geraldo Rivera also attended the event to show their support for New Yorkers For Children.

Guests had an exciting opportunity to show their support for youth in foster care through the silent auction. They perused the many unique auction items as the night progressed, ultimately raising a record-breaking $62,000 to benefit New Yorkers For Children’s programs.

Generous supporters included Ben & Jerry’s, Peter and Tina Harf, Bally, Burberry, Dior Beauty, Frederic Fekkai, Hautelook.com, Hugo Boss and Christine and Stephen Schwarzman. In addition to their sponsorship, Pink Tartan also created custom dresses and suits for the ten young people in foster care who joined us for the evening while Frederic Fekkai and Dior Beauty provided hair and makeup styling. Ben & Jerry’s generously sponsored the table for our young guests and provided miniature ice cream cones to guests as the night came to a close.

Thank you to all of our incredible contributors and devoted supporters. We look forward to seeing you again at A Fool’s Fête on April 8, 2010!
