Tour of Good Morning America 2008

On Friday, May 30, New Yorkers For Children provided ten young people in foster care who are passionate about the entertainment industry with the experience of a lifetime.  Good Morning America host Diane Sawyer invited some of NYFC’s young people to attend a taping of the morning show, which included a live performance by Usher in Bryant Park.  After watching the show-stopping performance from the front row, the young people traveled to Times Square Studios to meet with Diane and her co-host, Robin Roberts.  Diane’s personal commitment to child welfare reform was illustrated when she hosted the 2006 NYFC Fall Gala and presented her deeply moving film on foster care in America and around the world. She and Robin were both inspired by the young people they met on the Good Morning America set.

Back in the control room to watch the live broadcast for the West Coast, the young people all spoke about their desires to become involved in the entertainment industry.  ABC generously invited the youth back to meet with professionals from other aspects of the field, and we are looking forward to revisiting Times Square Studios this summer.  We are so grateful to ABC, Diane Sawyer, and Friends Committee member Rory Hermelee.
